How much you can borrow
This calculator tells you the maximum you can borrow against your portfolio or a particular scrip. Note that financiers have their biases for and against specific stocks, and consider whether they are fully or partly dematerialised. Typically, dematerialised shares qualify for higher loans than do physical shares. The results thrown up by this tool, therefore, factor in not just the value of your portfolio, but its composition as well. Also remember that lenders have their own caps on how much they will lend against physical or demat shares. Physical shares. If the number of physical shares you pledge of a scrip is not a market lot, for valuation purposes, most lenders will round off your holdings to the nearest lower market lot. For instance, if you pledge 103 physical shares of Reliance Industries, they will consider only 100 shares for valuation. Some might even offer to dematerialise the shares where the option exists. How it works. Select the scrips you wish to borrow from the drop down menus below. If no lender in our database lends against a particular scrip, it will not appear in the menu.
