Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on February 1, 2025 at 11 AM, maintaining the tradition of delivering it on the first day of February annually.
The budget date is generally fixed, however, if in any year February 1 falls on a public holiday, the date is adjusted in accordance with the government’s holiday calendar.
Not only stakeholders but also members of the public can provide suggestions and ideas for the budget through the government’s portal, www.mygov.in. The portal is accepting public input from January 10, 2025.
Initially, the budget was traditionally presented on the last working day of February. However, in 2017, the then Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, moved the budget presentation date from the last working day of February to February 1.
The Economic Survey is published a day prior to the Union Budget. This year, the Ministry of Finance will release the Economic Survey on January 31, 2025.
