The Income Tax Department’s e-Pay Tax facility gives taxpayers multiple options to make direct tax payments through the e-Filing portal.
The e-Pay Tax service lets taxpayers make payments, generate challans and view payment records through the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
The facility can be used for advance tax, self-assessment tax, demand payments and other applicable fees or levies. Its payment modes remain the same under both tax laws.
Taxpayers can choose an authorised bank and use its internet banking service to complete the tax payment after being redirected from the e-Pay Tax portal.
Tax dues can be paid using debit cards issued by participating banks. Taxpayers need to enter their card details and complete the required verification.
Taxpayers can generate a challan online and visit an authorised bank to pay through cash, cheque or demand draft. Cash payments above Rs 10,000 are not allowed.
Tax payments can be transferred through RTGS or NEFT after generating a mandate form on the portal. The form contains instructions needed to complete the transfer.
The payment gateway supports UPI, credit cards, debit cards and net banking, allowing taxpayers to choose an online payment method that suits them.
