India’s wealthiest families are giving back more than ever, with top 191 philanthropists donating Rs 10,380 crore in FY25, up 85 per cent in three years, according to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2025.
Ranked tenth, Cyrus and Adar Poonawalla donated Rs 173 crore through the Billo Poonawalla Foundation, focusing on healthcare, vaccination and community upliftment.
At ninth place, Sudhir and Samir Mehta contributed Rs 189 crore through the UNM Foundation (Torrent Group), supporting healthcare, education and sustainability initiatives.
Ranked eighth, Rohini Nilekani donated Rs 204 crore through Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, focusing on water conservation, environment and gender equality.
In seventh position, the Hinduja family donated Rs 298 crore via the Hinduja Foundation, funding projects in healthcare, education and rural development.
Ranked sixth, Nandan Nilekani donated Rs 365 crore through Nilekani Philanthropies, supporting education, technology-led inclusion and social innovation.
At fifth place, Gautam Adani and family contributed Rs 386 crore through the Adani Foundation, focusing on education, healthcare, livelihood and rural transformation.
Ranked fourth, Kumar Mangalam Birla and family donated Rs 440 crore through the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation, supporting education, health and financial literacy programs.
In third place, the Bajaj Group donated Rs 446 crore, driving initiatives in healthcare, women empowerment and education across India.
Ranked second, Mukesh Ambani and family donated Rs 626 crore through the Reliance Foundation, focusing on rural development, health and disaster relief.
Topping the list, Shiv Nadar and family donated Rs 2,708 crore through the Shiv Nadar Foundation, dedicated to advancing education and leadership development.
