Resident Indians and NRI minors can also apply and get a PAN card.
PAN is also allowed for minor kids specifically for the purpose of financial transactions, opening bank accounts and making investments on behalf of a minor.
The process of application is done through a hybrid mode where Indian individuals can do it in hybrid mode, the NRIs may need to do the process through offline mode.
The first step is to go to the NSDL PAN services portal and click on ’New Application’. After that select ‘New PAN Indian Citizen (Form 49A)’ and indicate Category ‘Individual’.
Minors' address and phone numbers along with parents/guardians has to be entered, which is followed by clicking on submit. Then after this, there are more requirements needed which include the minor's signature.
The last step is to pay and send form and click on Support. Then one receives a tracking number as soon as payment is cleared.
Documents required are minor’s birth certificate (as age proof), parent’s or guardian’s identity and address proof, minor’s photograph and signature of the parent/guardian.
