As per the data from Policybazaar, 70 per cent of NRIs buy insurance plans for their families and the remaining 30 per cent buy for themselves.
In India, health insurance coverage is comparatively cheaper than in other countries where the NRIs work/live.
Usually the premiums are 35 per cent lower and the hospital medication, consultation is 70 to 90 per cent less.
There are initiatives like the NRI Care Program, which help during the emergency situations and even with emotional and mental support.
NRIs have benefits like 40 per cent discounts if they maintain a no-claim record. They also have benefits of additional savings for multi-year policy commitments.
India's affordability, service standards and familiarity are a relief for the NRIs, as healthcare costs are increasing globally.
