PMIS is a scheme which is focused on providing internships to the youth. The scheme was launched during the 2024-25 budget.
The scope of the program has been expanded. Earlier the scheme sought to provide 1.25 lakh internships but now aims to offer over one crore internships in the next five years.
Under the scheme, internships are available in 24 sectors, including oil and gas, travel, hospitality, energy, banking and many more.
The application for the second phase is underway. The deadline to submit the applications has been extended to April 15, 2025.
The selection process for the scheme has begun, applicants must track designated dashboards, emails and text messages on their registered contact numbers.
New applicants who are applying after the previous deadlines might have missed some opportunities.
The applicant must be aged between 21 to 24 years. However, there are some relaxations for applicants from the OBC, SC and ST categories.
To be eligible for an internship, applicants must have a Bachelor's degree from a UGC or AICTE-recognised university.
Applicants are provided a Rs 5,000 stipend every month during the internship period and a one-time payment of Rs 6,000.
