According to Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2026, the rankings are based on reader experiences and votes, with more than 207,000 readers participating in the survey.
Zanzibar ranked tenth, known for white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, historic Stone Town and a mix of cultural and coastal experiences.
Dominica secured ninth place, offering rainforests, waterfalls, volcanic landscapes and adventure experiences as one of the Caribbean’s nature-focused destinations.
Sri Lanka ranked eighth, attracting travellers with its beaches, wildlife, heritage sites and scenic landscapes offering diverse travel experiences.
Fiji secured seventh place, known for tropical islands, coral reefs, marine life and water activities across its beautiful Pacific surroundings.
Seychelles ranked sixth, famous for clear waters, beaches, biodiversity and unique island landscapes in the Indian Ocean region.
Phuket ranked fifth, popular for beaches, nightlife, cultural attractions and easy access to Thailand’s nearby islands.
Bali secured fourth place, known for temples, beaches, traditional culture, wellness experiences and natural beauty, attracting global travellers.
Galápagos Islands ranked third, recognised for unique wildlife, biodiversity and natural landscapes that attract nature and adventure travellers.
The Maldives secured second place, known for luxury resorts, coral reefs, underwater experiences and its iconic tropical island scenery.
Koh Samui topped the ranking, recognised for beaches, luxury stays, local culture and memorable travel experiences for visitors.
