Arranging Finances For A Dream House
Satya Maurya, 32 Retail Executive Bengaluru
Arindam Mukherjee - 20 October 2019

For Satya Maurya, the priorities changed after getting married in 2015. Having shifted to Bengaluru from Delhi three years ago, he was staying in a rented accommodation. Fresh into matrimony, the need for a personal house became a priority and hence began his search for the same.

The Walmart Executive scanned through the Baengaluru landscape and zeroed in on a three-bedroom apartment in a decent locality and set his sights on it. The next important thing was to finance the house. And Maurya set upon to find the best bank offer for his house.

After scanning through several banks and their offers, he zeroed in on Canara Bank, which gave him the best offer. “It helped that my wife also worked for Canara Bank, though not in the loans department. It helped me understand the loan offer and the terms and conditions well,” he said. He got a good deal from Canara Bank and the deal was sealed. Maurya took a loan of Rs75 lakh for his house with a repayment period of 30 years.

Although this is the first big investment made by him, he does not shy away from investing in other areas. Apart from a few other investments, he has also taken two LIC policies worth Rs5 lakh and 15 lakh for him and his family.

Maurya has plans for other investments as well and is looking at avenues and asset classes where he can invest. But at the moment the young couple has set their sights to repay the huge bank loan that they have taken for their house and aim at repaying it before its scheduled repayment period of 30 years so that they can plan their life well and focus on other investments.

At the moment though, Maurya is concentrating on managing his finances on achieving this goal so that he owns his home as early as possible and can invest in other asset classes.
