NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) has allowed users to use Bharat Connect for recharging electric vehicle (EV) wallets. That means users will now be able to recharge EV charging wallets through partner apps and websites, bringing EV wallet recharges into the bill payment system of Bharat Connect, which is currently being used for a range of recurring and one-time payments.

The option is available under the EV Recharge category on Bharat Connect. It allows EV users to recharge wallets linked to charging networks without switching between different operator-specific applications. Users can access the service through apps and platforms that already support Bharat Connect.

The new EV Recharge category was launched at Global Fintech Fest 2025, and it integrates EV wallet providers into the Bharat Connect network operated by NBBL.

How the Integration Would Work

EV users can recharge their charging wallets through the payment options currently provided in Bharat Connect. These options include payments through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), credit/debit cards, net banking, and mobile wallets. Once the user has successfully recharged the wallet, they will get immediate confirmation along with a digital record of the transaction.

The charging networks supported by this service are Tata EZ Charge and Zeon Charge.

Streamlining Charging Payments

EV users often rely on different mobile applications to access charging stations and manage payments. Some of these networks have their own wallets and log-in processes, making the overall process of switching applications lengthy.

Adding EV wallet recharges to Bharat Connect will help customers pay their charging payments along with other bills using a service where customers can log in and access everything in one place. This service follows a consistent procedure for payments, irrespective of which network it is associated with at a charging point.

EV Charging Infrastructure

The number of public EV charging stations has increased in recent years, leading to wider use of different charging networks. As EV usage grows, users are more likely to encounter multiple operators during daily commutes or longer trips.

Managing wallet balances across these networks has been a practical issue for many EV owners. The availability of EV wallet recharges on Bharat Connect provides a common payment route for topping up charging wallets as the charging network expands.
