The Delhi High Court granted bail to the Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav on February 16, 2026, after he deposited Rs 1.5 crore towards payments against his bounced cheques. The Court ordered him to surrender after failing to repay his Rs 9 crore loan from a Delhi-based company, M/s Murali Projects Pvt. Ltd. When his cheques were dishonoured, the lender took to litigation and filed a case in 2018.

During the legal proceedings, the actor deposited Rs 75 lakh, but after the Court’s order on February 2, 2026, ordering Yadav to surrender, he surrendered at the Tihar Jail in Delhi on February 4, 2026.

Citing Yadav’s lawyer Bhaskar Upadhyay, NDTV reported that the actor has now paid a total of Rs 2.5 crore in this cheque bounce case, where the initial borrowing was Rs 5 crore, which rose to Rs 9 crore, including the interest, penalty, and other additions. Reportedly, the Court has granted him bail now.

His surrender came as a shock to many. The Bollywood fraternity came to his rescue and poured in financial support. According to media reports, actors Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Varun Dhawan, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, filmmaker Priyadarshan, David Dhawan, singers Mika Singh, Guru Randhawa, and Anup Jalota, boxer Vijender Singh, among others, came in his support. Politician Tej Pratap Yadav also offered Rs 11 lakh financial support.

The actor is known for his roles in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Phir Hera Pheri, Hungama, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Jungle, Welcome Back, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Waqt: The Race Against Time, and many more.
