The State Bank of India (SBI) has informed customers that several of its digital banking services will be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. This planned activity will take place on September 7, 2025, from 1:20 AM to 2:20 AM.

During this one-hour period, internet banking, YONO, YONO Lite, YONO Business on both web and mobile channels, Corporate Internet Banking (CINB), and merchant services will not be available during this one-hour duration. The bank attributed the maintenance activity to routine system upgrades aimed at increasing the reliability and security of its platforms.

Services That Will Continue As Usual

While the majority of the major digital banking channels will be offline during the maintenance, some core services will still be accessible. UPI Lite transactions will keep running uninterrupted, enabling customers to make instant payments without a PIN. ATM services nationwide will also be operational in full capacity, providing uninterrupted access to cash and a number of other in-person banking capabilities.

How UPI Lite Functions

UPI Lite is a light version of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for small-value transactions. UPI Lite payments do not involve the customer having to enter a PIN, so it is a quicker method of paying for recurrent purchases. The limit per transaction is Rs 1,000 and a Rs 10,000 daily cumulative limit. Customers can keep a maximum of Rs 5,000 in the UPI Lite balance at any time. This facility is helpful especially for smaller service disruptions when regular online banking channels are not available.

ATM Services

ATMs will still provide a variety of services during maintenance work. Customers are allowed to withdraw and deposit money, create or modify debit card PINs, check balances, and obtain mini statements. They can also pay SBI Visa credit card bills, request a cheque book, update their mobile number, stop cheque payments, adjust limits for ATM, PoS, e-commerce, NFC, and domestic or international transactions, and enable or disable specific card channels. A few ATMs also enable customers to make KYC confirmations and transfer eligible savings accounts to another branch.

Suggestions For Customers

SBI has asked customers to schedule their online banking operations during the planned downtime to reduce inconvenience. Customers who have urgent payments to make between this time can opt for UPI Lite for speedy transactions or just withdraw cash at an ATM for any other kind of banking need.
