State Bank of India (SBI) will revise the number of free ATM transactions available to salary package accountholders from October 1, 2026. Under the revised rules, customers will get five free monthly transactions at other banks’ ATMs, down from the existing limit of 10.

The revised limit covers both financial and non-financial transactions made through SBI debit cards at other banks’ ATMs and automated deposit cum withdrawal machines (ADWMs). The rules will apply across all SBI salary package account variants and at all centres.

Charges After Free ATM Limit

After customers have used their five free transactions at other banks’ ATMs, additional transactions will attract charges.

A cash withdrawal will cost Rs 23 plus Goods and Services Tax (GST). Non-financial transactions, such as balance enquiries and mini statements, will carry a charge of Rs 11 plus GST.

The five free transactions will cover both financial and non-financial activity at other banks’ ATMs. SBI will also apply the same five-transaction threshold across centres, without separate metro and non-metro classifications.

This means that a customer making frequent withdrawals or other ATM transactions at another bank could incur charges once the monthly free limit has been exhausted.

SBI ATM Transaction Rules

The revised change is limited to transactions at other banks’ ATMs and ADWMs. Salary package accountholders will have a separate free transaction allowance when using SBI ATMs.

Customers will get 10 free transactions per month at SBI ATMs, covering financial and non-financial transactions, subject to the applicable account terms.

Certain salary package-linked accounts, including Shaurya Family Pension Accounts and SBI RISHTEY Family Savings Accounts have account-specific ATM benefits. Customers should check the terms applicable to their particular account before making transactions beyond the free limit.

Rules For Other SBI Accounts

For customers who do not hold salary package accounts, the existing free ATM transaction limit is five transactions at all centres.

After the free limit is exhausted, cash withdrawals at ATMs will attract a charge of Rs 23 plus GST, while non-financial transactions will cost Rs 11 plus GST.

The revised policy primarily changes the allowance for SBI salary package customers using other banks’ ATMs. From October 1, the number of such free transactions will fall from 10 to five per month.
