Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday visited Panipat to inaugurate “Bima Sakhi Yojana,” a scheme that will provide training to one lakh women and pay them monthly wages of Rs.7,000, Rs.6,000 and Rs.5,000 for the first, second and third year respectively and will also allow them to become an insurance agent of LIC. "Once the training is successfully completed, participants will become LIC agents, helping bridge the gap in insurance penetration in rural and semi-urban areas,” said Sitharaman. This scheme aims to provide financial training and employment to empower and uplift women from the age of 18-70 years old who have studied till 10th grade.
