The Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) towering heights scheme has extended the deadline for allottees. This scheme is on a first-come, first-served basis, which allows the aspirational buyers to have a fair chance at homeownership. DDA announced the launch of this scheme, namely, DDA Housing Scheme 2026, through a notification on its website titled “DDA Towering Heights Karkardooma Housing Scheme 2026”. This scheme offers two-BHK flats in East Delhi on a First Come First Serve (FCFS) and e-auction basis.
Location of the Housing
Under the retail category, the DDA offers two-BHK flats at Karkardooma in East Delhi. The project is called DDA Towering Heights. This scheme offers a total of 1,026 units of 2BHK apartments through the e-auction held on the DDA Awas Portal, with base prices within the range of Rs 1.8 crore to Rs 3.1 crore.
Registration and Booking Dates
The registration for the DDA Housing Scheme 2026 started on January 8, 2026, through the DDA Awas Portal. Flat booking under the FCFS mode commenced on January 23, 2026. For the new applicants, a one-time registration fee of Rs 2,500 had to be paid, while pre-existing applicants are exempted from this fee.
As part of the payment structure of the scheme, buyers are required to pay a significant portion of the total cost of the unit. While the rest of the amount has to be paid at the time of possession. However, many successful allottees require more time to arrange the funds, as per a report by Hindustan Times. This has urged DDA to extend the payment deadline.
The same report cited the DDA circular, which mentioned that the schemes will not be extended any further from June 2026. This ensures that sincere homebuyers are not delayed unnecessarily. The report further added that no interest will be charged in both housing schemes. The last date of paying the dues is June 30, 2026. There is an additional period of 30 days for the allottees to make the payment. Until July 30, 2026, allottees shall be allowed to make the payment. However, during this extended period, interest of 10 per cent shall be applicable on the payable amount.
This extension to the scheme allows the allottees a fair chance to avail themselves of homeownership without the risk of cancellation. However, one should also be mindful of the terms set by the authority to avoid the extra charges of 10 per cent of the total price set by the DDA.
