Stock Market News: Sensex Gains More Than 350 Points, Nifty Crosses 25,000 As Benchmarks Extend Rally For 8 Sessions

The benchmark indices continued to rally for the eighth straight session on September 12, 2025. The 30-share Sensex closed the session at 81,904.70, up by 355.97 points or 0.44 per cent. On the other hand, the benchmark Nifty finished the session at 25,114, gaining 108.50 points or 0.43 per cent higher. Notably, the headline indices have finished the week with gains.

Top Gainers And Losers On September 12

Bharat Electronics, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv finished the session higher on September 12, closing higher by up to 3.71 per cent on the NSE. On the other hand, shares of Eternal, Hindustan Unilever and IndusInd Bank closed lower by as much as 1.90 per cent. As many as 30 constituents of the Nifty 50 closed in the green, and 20 stocks finished in the red.

Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma Surge

Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty Metal index finished higher by 0.93 per cent and the Nifty Pharma finished the session higher by 0.53 per cent. On the other hand, the Nifty FMCG finished lower by 0.71 per cent and emerged as the only loser ang the sectoral pack. The broader market indices extended gains with the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 finishing the session higher by 0.32 per cent and 0.64 per cent, respectively.

Global Markets

Asian indices closed the week mixed, with the Nikkei 225 and Hang Seng finishing the session higher by 0.91 per cent and 1.15 per cent, respectively. The KOSPI finished the session higher by 1.51 per cent while the Shanghai Composite declined 0.12 per cent at the close.

The US market indices finished the session higher with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite closing with gains ranging between 0.72 per cent and 1.36 per cent.

Primary Market Action

The public issues of three companies are slated to close today. These include mainboard issues, such as Dev Accelerator IPO, Shringar House of Mangalsutra IPO and Urban Company IPO. Small and medium enterprise (SME) issues, such as Jay Ambe Supermarkets IPO and Galaxy Medicare IPO are scheduled to close for subscription on September 12. On the other hand, the public issue of L.T. Elevator opened for subscription today.

Market Outlook

D-Street is expected to factor in several cues in the upcoming week. These include any new announcements regarding India-US trade negotiations, too. Notably, US Ambassador nominee Sergio Gor has also stated at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that India and the US are nearing the finalisation of a trade deal.
