Share Market News: Headline indices finished the week on a strong note on October 10. The 30-share Sensex finished at 82,500.82, up by 328.72 points or 0.4 per cent. The Nifty 50 index closed at 25,285.35, up by 103.55 points or 0.41 per cent.
The headline indices extended gains for the second day today, maintaining an upward trajectory throughout the session. Sectorally, PSU banks, realty, pharma, private banks, and healthcare ended the session with gains. On the other hand, selective profit booking in the metals and IT space tempered advances. On the global front, ongoing trade negotiations between India and the US boosted investor sentiment and added optimism.
Cipla and State Bank of India shares led the top-gainers among the Nifty 50 stocks. Cipla and State Bank of India finished the session higher by 3.63 per cent and 2.22 per cent, respectively on the NSE. Other major gainers included stocks such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Bajaj-Auto and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories which finished the session with gains of 1.88 per cent, 1.51 per cent and 1.44 per cent respectively on the NSE.
Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty Pharma, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Realty finished the session with gains of 1.29 per cent, 1.67 per cent each respectively. On the other hand, the broader market also witnessed gains with the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 finishing the session higher by 0.46 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively.
Most Asian indices witnessed declines on October 10. The Nikkei 225, Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite finished the session lower by 0.88 per cent, 1.76 per cent and 0.95 per cent respectively. However, even amid the declines the KOSPI finished higher by 1.7 per cent.
WeWork India Management Ltd shares were listed on the exchanges on October 10. On the other hand, SME issues of SK Minerals & Additives IPO and Sihora Industries IPO opened for bidding. The mainboard issue of Canara HSBC Life Insurance Co IPO also opened for subscription on October 10.
D-street is expected to factor in the announcement of Q2 earnings by companies such as HCL Tech and Anand Rathi Wealth. Investors will also monitor the release of India’s retail inflation data for the month of September. Additionally stock specific action is expected to affect D-street throughout the Q2FY26 earnings season.
