Stock Market Today: Sensex Ends Nearly 200 Points Higher, Nifty Reclaims 25,400 Snaps Two Session Losing Streak

Shares of Bajaj Finance and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories emerged as top Nifty 50 gainers on July 4 as they closed higher by 1.74 per cent on the NSE.

Share Market News: The headline indices finished in the green on July 4, 2025. The Sensex finished higher by 193.42 points or 0.23 per cent at 83,432.89. On the other hand, the Nifty 50 closed at 25,461, up by 55.7 points or 0.22 per cent. The marginal gains made by the benchmarks came amid cautious optimism ahead of the July 9 trade tariff imposition deadline. Strong domestic buying interest from domestic institutional investors (DIIs) contributed to the modest gains made by the benchmarks.

Bajaj Finance and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Lead Gainers

Shares of Bajaj Finance and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories emerged as the top Nifty 50 gainers on July 4, as they closed higher by 1.74 per cent on the NSE. Other gainers included Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and ICICI Bank, as they finished the session higher by up to 1.30 per cent. On the other hand, shares of Trent, Tata Steel and Eicher Motors came out as the top losers among the Nifty 50 stocks, closing lower by as much as 11.37 per cent on the NSE. As many as 31 Nifty 50 stocks advanced on July 4, while 19 stocks declined.

Nifty Oil & Gas and Nifty Realty Emerge As Top Gainers

The Nifty Oil & Gas and Nifty Realty index came out as the top sectoral winners in trade on July 4 as they finished higher by 1.05 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, the Nifty IT and the Nifty Auto index closed lower by as much as 0.45 per cent, emerging as the top sectoral losers. The broader market indices finished the session mixed as the Nifty SmallCap 100 finished 0.03 per cent higher, and the Nifty MidCap 100 closed lower by 0.01 per cent.

Global Markets on July 4

US markets will remain closed on July 4 on account of Independence Day. Asian indices ended the week mixed, as the Nikkei 225 finished higher by 24.98 points or 0.06 per cent, and the Shanghai Composite finished the session up by 11.17 points or 0.32 per cent. Conversely, the KOSPI and the Hang Seng finished lower by as much as 2.03 per cent.

Meta Infotech IPO opened for subscription on July 4, while Crizac IPO’s bidding window closed today. Shares of Adcounty Media India and Neetu Yoshi made their debut on the BSE SME platform on July 4.

Market Cues

D-Street is likely to factor in several key events over the course of the upcoming week, such as the beginning of the earnings season, wherein major listed companies will announce their financial results for the first quarter of FY 2025-26. A potential trade agreement between India and the US along with the BRICS Summit are also expected to affect trade in the upcoming week.
