8th Central Pay Commission: As the central government employees and pensioners eagerly await the constitution of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC), the Government has yet to notify them. The Government has announced that set up the commission in January this year. On the question of constitution and implementation of the 8th CPC by parliamentarian T R Baalu and Anand Bhadauria in the Lok Sabha on July 21, 2025, Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, provided a written reply, saying that the Government decided to constitute the 8th CPC and the chairperson and members of the commission would be appointed once it is notified by the Government.

His reply reads, “It has been decided by the Government to constitute the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). Inputs have been sought from major stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Personnel & Training, and the States. The Chairperson and Members of the 8th CPC would be appointed once the 8th CPC is notified by the Government.”

When the Government notifies the CPC and its members are appointed, they will provide their recommendation on the government employees’ salary revision. The recommendation will be implemented only after the Government approves it.
