Farmers Advised To Update Details Before PM-Kisan’s 21st Installment

The next installment under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is expected soon, according to a recent report by India TV News, and lakhs of farmers could miss out on the Rs 2,000 payout if their details are not properly updated.

Officials have raised concerns over a large number of applications still stuck in verification. In most cases, the trouble lies in small data mismatches, an Aadhaar number that doesn’t tally with bank records, a spelling error in the name, or an incomplete e-KYC. These may sound minor, but they can hold up payments indefinitely.

The government’s flagship PM-Kisan scheme has, since its launch in 2019, provided direct income support to millions of farmers. Each eligible beneficiary receives Rs 6,000 a year in three installments. For many small farmers, the sum may not be large, but it often arrives at the right time, just enough to buy seeds, repay a small loan, or tide over a bad season. Yet, with every payment round, the same warning returns: unless the details are correct, the money won’t come through.

Delays Largely Due To Data Errors

A senior official explained that the e-KYC process remains the biggest bottleneck. Farmers who haven’t completed the biometric verification either online or at Common Service Centres will not receive the next payment. Similarly, if the Aadhaar-linked bank account has any discrepancy, the transaction fails automatically.

Sometimes the problem is as simple as an outdated IFSC code or an account that has been closed or shifted. In a few cases, even a misplaced initial in the name has caused the system to reject the transfer. Farmers have been asked to check their beneficiary status on the PM-Kisan portal and correct any details that don’t match government records.

Early Payments In Select States

While most of the country is still waiting, farmers in states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have already begun receiving the 21st installment. The government reportedly prioritised these areas because of heavy rain and flood-related losses earlier this year.

For the rest, the release is expected before Diwali. Farmers can log in to the PM-Kisan website using their Aadhaar or bank number to check if their payment is due. If the status shows “pending” or “error,” it usually means that some part of the registration data needs correction.

Officials say a small effort at the right time can prevent long delays. The message is simple: check your records now, fix what’s missing, and ensure that when the next round of transfers begins, your name isn’t left out of the list.
