The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has added a new feature on the Rajmargyatra app that lets users gift this annual pass to someone else. The idea is simple: offer your loved ones a year of toll-free, cashless travel across the country’s national highways and expressways.

Moreover, gifting the pass does not take much effort. Here’s how to do it:

• You open the Rajmargyatra app, tap on ‘Add Pass’, and enter the vehicle number and contact details of the person you want to send it to.

• Once you verify the transaction through an OTP, the annual pass gets linked to that vehicle’s FASTag within a couple of hours.

And that’s it, no paperwork is involved in this gift, it also doesn’t require any physical card.

Key Things To Know About This Pass

• The annual pass costs Rs 3,000 and is valid for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first.

• It can be used on around 1,150 toll plazas across India and is meant for private, non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans.

• Once activated, the pass removes the need for regular recharges, which can be a big relief for those who drive long distances or commute daily.

There is also a small catch, though: The pass is valid only on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) managed by NHAI. For tolls on certain expressways or state highways run by local authorities, users may still have to pay separately.

Growing Uptake Of FastTag Passes

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had launched the FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, 2025, and in just two months, it has already seen a strong response with over 2.50 million users and nearly 57 million transactions, according to NHAI data.

The popularity makes sense since for many regular travellers it’s not just a way to save money, but also a way to save time and the hassle of recharging or waiting in toll queues.
