India’s Most Expensive Car Registration: This Number Sold for Rs 1.17 Crore in Haryana

A recent online VIP vehicle number auction in Haryana drew widespread interest with a businessman bidding the highest for a fancy registration number. The auction has increased interest among buyers seeking distinctive and prestigious number plates.

The VIP registration number HR-88-B-8888 fetched the highest bid of Rs 1.17 crore in a recent online auction. Conducted by the Haryana Transport Department through the Ministry of Road Transport, the auction had a reserve price of Rs 50,000, with participants required to pay Rs 11,000 to take part in the e-auction.

Haryana conducts weekly online auctions for fancy vehicle numbers with bidding closing at 5 pm on Wednesdays from the official portal, fancy.parivahan.gov.in.

Fancy numbers are unique registration numbers that stand out for their distinctive patterns that makes them more attractive than standard plates.

As HR88B8888 is receiving recognition for its appealing sequence of repeated numbers of 8s and letters that form a memorable and same as number pattern. The number is from Haryana's Charkhi Dadri district, specifically the Badhra subdivision.

The highest bidder, who did not wish to be named, told PTI that he had not set a specific amount in mind and was drawn to the number. He has not yet decided which vehicle it will be assigned to. He said he was not expecting the bid to generate such a hype and mentioned that he runs a transport business along with a software company developing transport-related applications.

The auction for HR-88-B-8888 underscores the rising interest in fancy vehicle numbers in Haryana. These special registration plates and their unique patterns show competitive bids. Weekly online auctions allow buyers to secure these sought-after numbers, highlighting its growing popularity throughout the country.
