The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for all women wishing to avail of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana to update their e-KYC processes. The women are also required to update the KYC details of either their husbands or fathers in order to avail the direct benefit transfer.

To ensure more women can participate in the programme, the state government has also extended the deadline to submit e-KYC documents to December 31, from November 18.

But faced with the requirement to update the husband’s details, many women were left stranded. The government has now clarified the processes to follow in cases where the husband or father of the woman is absent.

What is Ladki Bahin Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is a Direct Benefit Transfer in which women residents of Maharashtra aged between 21 and 65 years with a family income under Rs. 2.5 lakhs annually can get a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,500 through the programme. The woman in whose name the transfer is to be made must have a bank account linked to their Aadhaar card.
