Pensioners can submit their annual life certificate digitally using Aadhaar-based authentication through the government’s Jeevan Pramaan portal. The process allows the eligible pensioners to verify their identity and complete the submission without visiting a bank branch or pension office. However, applicants must ensure that their pension details are accurate and that they meet the requirements for eligibility.
The life certificate is an important document used to confirm that a pensioner is alive and eligible to continue receiving pension payments. Submitting it within the time period helps pensioners avoid potential disruptions to their pension.
Pensioners who are registered with Jeevan Pramaan can use the digital facility. Aadhaar or a Virtual Identification Number (VID) is required to generate a Digital Life Certificate (DLC). Applicants should keep their Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, pension account details, bank information, and any active mobile number ready before they begin the process. According to a report by Moneycontrol, pensioners who have been re-employed or remarried are not eligible to use this facility and must submit their life certificate through the original process.
Pensioners can complete the process through face authentication on a compatible smartphone. Otherwise, they can visit an authorised Jeevan Pramaan Centre or a participating bank to complete biometric authentication using a fingerprint or iris scan.
Those applying through a smartphone can follow these steps.
Install the Jeevan Pramaan Face application and AadhaarFaceRD application.
Open the application and follow the instructions to authenticate the operator. This will initiate the process.
Provide the pensioner’s Aadhaar number and other required information.
Enter the PPO number, pension account information, bank details, mobile number, and details of the relevant authorities.
Follow the on-screen instructions to verify the pensioner’s identity and submit the information.
Once authentication is successful, the system generates a unique Pramaan ID for the Digital Life Certificate.
Pensioners should retain the Pramaan ID to check the certificate’s status and download it through the official Jeevan Pramaan portal.
The submission window for the 2026 annual life certificate varies according to the pensioner’s age.
Pensioners aged 80 years and above can submit their certificates from October 1, 2026. For pensioners below 80 years of age, the submission window runs from November 1 to November 30, 2026.
