The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) offers a facility under which travellers and motorists can have a concession to make frequent travel more convenient and cost-effective for those who travel frequently and are eligible. The facility allows commuters to cross eligible toll plazas without paying separately for every trip, which is subject to the pass’s validity and usage conditions.

People who live near the National Highway toll plazas will be able to access this new concessional annual pass from November 01, 2026. The facility aims to reduce toll expenses for residents who regularly use a particular highway stretch for local travel. Under the revised rules, residents who live within 20 kms of the eligible National Highway toll plaza can apply for this annual pass. The vehicle must be registered for personal use and have a valid and functional FASTag.

The concession will only apply to the specific toll plaza for which the pass is issued. It cannot be used at any other toll plazas. Certain highways and expressways that operate under a closed toll system are also excluded.

How Much Does The Annual Toll Pass Cost?

The annual fee will depend on the location of the toll plaza. For toll plazas that are outside the municipal or local town limits, the cost is Rs 1,500 per year. Whereas, for toll plazas that are within the municipal or local town limits, the cost is Rs 3,000 per year.

How Is It Different From FASTag Annual Pass?

The concessional pass is different from the existing FASTag Annual Pass, which is made available to certain private vehicles.

For the financial year 2026-27, the FASTag Annual Pass costs Rs 3,075 and allows up to 200 toll plazas or one year of validity for crossings on eligible National Highways and National Expressways, whichever comes first.

Benefits of the pass

  • It can reduce toll costs for eligible journeys.

  • Users also avoid repeated payments, saving travel time.

  • Eligible users can activate and manage the pass through the official online platform of NHAI.

  • The savings here actually depend on travel frequency, route selection and the toll plazas that were used.
