PM Internship Scheme: Candidates Seek Clarity Ahead Of Round 2 Deadline

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) recently held the third Candidate Open House for the PM Internship Scheme. The purpose of this interactive session was to assist applicants in clearing their doubts and learning from industry experts, according to a press release by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

With the deadline for applying in the second round of the scheme approaching on March 31, 2025, candidates are encouraged to submit their applications promptly.

According to the release, over 684 attendees participated in the session, submitting more than 1,765 questions through an online link shared via email. These questions mostly focused on eligibility, selection criteria, and available opportunities under the scheme. The MCA team addressed these queries live, ensuring a smooth flow of information.

Experts emphasized how the PM Internship Scheme is intended to provide youth with an opportunity to interact directly with business executives and acquire practical experience. Don Lewis, an industry expert from Mahindra & Mahindra's Farm Division discussed the importance of internships for developing one's skills and advancing one's career. He underlined the necessity of frequently checking the portal for updates and new opportunities while encouraging candidates to be proactive.

Lewis also mentioned that the Mahindra Group provides internship opportunities across the country, making it easier for candidates to choose locations that suit their needs and preferences. He stressed that such internships can significantly boost employment prospects and offer valuable practical experience, as mentioned in the release.

During the session, three PMIS interns, Shweta Joshi, Ankit Kumar, and Vidyasagar Patil, shared their experiences, according to the release. Ankit, who works as a painter intern at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in Nashik, shared how he overcame challenges related to language barriers and settled into his role, due to support from his mentors. Shweta, an Associate Software intern at Tech Mahindra, spoke about learning tools like SQL, AWS CloudWatch, and analytics, and expressed her hopes of securing a full-time role after the internship.

The MCA's project management team and BISAG, the Ministry's technical partner, also attended the event and offered advice on how to use the PMIS portal and make internship selections. The Open House sessions continue to provide candidates with a great platform for seeking help, learning from colleagues, and exploring new job prospects.

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme, launched by the Government of India, offers internships to youth aged 21 to 24 in the top 500 companies. It was announced in the Union Budget 2024–25 and intends to offer more than one crore internships across the country. More than 600,000 applications were submitted in Round One, which began on October 3, 2024, and offered skill-building opportunities in 730 districts.
