The PIB Fact Check has flagged as fake a letter that claims eligible non-gazetted railway employees will get a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equal to 78 days’ wages for FY 2025-26. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PIF Fact Check also shared a clarification issued by the Railway Board on October 7, 2026.

The fake letter mentions a bonus of Rs 41,149 and includes a reference number and date to make it look like an official Railway Board letter.

What The Railway Board Clarified

In a letter addressed to the General Managers of Indian Railways and other concerned officials, the Railway Board said the document bearing reference number RBE No. 101/2026 and dated October 6, 2026, had been issued under a forged signature.

The Board said neither the claimed approval of a 78-day bonus nor the payment amount of Rs 41,149 was authorised. It directed zonal railways, production units and other concerned offices to disregard the letter and ensure that no payment or other action was taken based on it.

It said that the 78-day bonus and the Rs 41,149 payment mentioned in the letter should not be taken as an official announcement for FY 2025-26.

How To Verify Railway Bonus Announcements

The Railway Board has asked officials and staff to check communications related to PLB on the official Ministry of Railways or Railway Board website before acting on them. It has also directed that the clarification be brought to the notice of concerned officers and staff.

The PIB Fact Check has urged people not to share or rely on unverified documents. It has also provided its WhatsApp number and email address for reporting suspicious content related to the Central Government.

Railway employees looking for updates on their bonus payments should refer to official announcements rather than messages circulating on social media or messaging platforms. A document carrying official-looking details does not establish that a bonus has been approved; its authenticity needs to be verified through official sources.
