The Rajasthan Police has officially started a statewide public awareness initiative for the month of September. The month-long campaign named ‘Cyber Surakshit Rajasthan’ is aimed at raising awareness among citizens about cybercrime and how to recognise, prevent, and protect themselves against diverse online frauds.
The campaign is being executed under the guidance of the Director General of Police, Rajeev Kumar Sharma. A leadership framework has also been designed for the seamless execution of the campaign by deploying a state nodal officer to oversee the campaign’s operations with additional superintendents of police (ASPs) deputed as district nodal officers for local coordination and implementation.
The primary focus of the campaign is to protect the vulnerable demographics, such as senior citizens and pensioners, who are often the soft target for cyber criminals. Cybercrime officials have been directed to contact directly with the pension department regarding this. Together, they aim to raise awareness among the elderly on prevailing cyber threats, digital arrest scams, and fraudulent investment schemes, among others.

The police will also reach out to the younger generation through educational institutions. For this, they will collaborate with district collectors and education officials, and an awareness programme will be rolled out across schools, colleges and universities. These engagements will be done through different formats, such as lectures, workshops, seminars, quizzes, and competitions.
To show solidarity in combating cyber threats, the students will assemble at selected locations and form a human chain to spread the message of digital safety. Various formats to engage with the people will be utilised to spread awareness. such as street plays, posters, audio and video messages, cyber awareness stalls, and others at markets, railway stations, but stands, metro stations, religious places, and other busy public areas.

Cyber volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) members, and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, will participate in the campaign. Runs and bicycle rallies will also be organised in coordination with the units of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary and district sports officers.
The campaign will also cover the rural areas. The police are also coordinating with the postal department and Panchayati Raj institutions for this.
