Online portals launches to boost cybersecurity framework
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has launched three new Information Technology platforms, it said in a release dated April 10. The IT platforms were launched with the aim of strengthening cybersecurity oversight and promoting ease of doing business.
The three platforms, namely, Single Universal Platform for Communications (SUPCOMS), e-adjudication portal, and Cyber-Sec Audit Compliance (C-SAC), will help in streamlining communication, adjudicating proceedings digitally, and overall boost cyber security supervision on Sebi-regulated entities.
SUPERCOMS is a digital platform which was designed to replace traditional communication systems, such as email interactions, for Sebi-regulated entities. All Sebi-registered intermediaries and external entities that interact with Sebi can use this platform. This initiative underscores the regulator’s commitment to adopting technology for ensuring transparency, trust and ease of doing business, the release said.
“This transition ensures that, going forward, all communications with external entities remain easily accessible for both Sebi and the entity. The implementation of SUPCOMS leads to the creation of a robust Institutional Memory. By centralising all official interactions with external entities, the platform ensures an audit trail of communications and prevents fragmented communication and broken reply chains,” it said.
The e-adjudication portal is a next-generation platform to digitally enable quasi-judicial proceedings for all Sebi-regulated parties. This platform was designed to provide an alternate transparent platform in adjudication proceedings, speed up processes and ensure a paperless regulatory framework, Sebi said.
“The Portal is designed to facilitate direct interaction with external entities (Noticees /their Authorised Representatives),” Sebi said. Through the portal, all parties can access and download Show Cause Notices (SCN) issued by SEBI, submit replies to the SCN and submit documents after the hearing. The portal also allows parties to submit various requests to the adjudication officer, such as inspecting documents, extension of time to file a reply, etc., and participate in the proceedings through a dedicated online hearings module.
“The Portal is integrated with the internal Case Management System (CMS) of SEBI to support the workflow of various internal departments involved in quasi-judicial proceedings,” it said.
Meanwhile, the third platform, C-SAC, enables automated analysis of cyber audit reports. This will help in the identification of compliance gaps, risk areas, and actionable insights.
“The platform enhances efficiency, reduces manual effort, and supports timely, data-driven supervisory decisions, reinforcing SEBI’s commitment to leveraging technology for robust cybersecurity oversight,” SEBI said.
