Earlier this year, BASIC Home Loan released their survey report of 7,400+ homebuyers, which found that Millennials and Gen Z account for approximately 90–95 per cent of residential property purchases.
The average age of home loan applicants has also fallen to around 25, from above 35 a few years ago. These numbers point to a significant change in the homeownership journey.
For lenders, this creates a clear responsibility. If younger Indians are entering the housing market earlier, access to credit has to become simpler, faster and more digital.
