There was also another case by the same family. The South Delhi Consumer Commission had earlier examined a related policy in the same family in June 2025. In Aysa versus Tata AIA Life Insurance (Case No. 276/2023, order dated 19 June 2025), the Commission upheld the insurer's decision to void the policy on grounds of failed KYC verification, and applied the 90-day waiting period clause under the policy (Part-C 3.1.2) to limit relief to a refund of the premium. The clause provides that if death occurs within the first 90 days of policy commencement, other than by accident, the insurer's liability is limited to a refund of premiums paid. In this case, death occurred 50 days after policy commencement, and the sum assured claim of Rs 11.55 lakh was denied.
