Arvind Kejriwal Announces Scheme Promising Free Treatment For Senior Citizens Ahead of Delhi Polls

The former Delhi CM also said there will be no upper ceiling on the cost of treatment and that registration for the scheme will begin in a day or two. He added that the scheme will be implemented once the party comes to power after the elections

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo, Arvind Kejriwal announced a new scheme which promises free treatment for senior citizens. The scheme has been named 'Sanjeevani Yojana' and aims to provide free treatment at both private and government hospitals. The announcement comes ahead of the Assembly Elections which will be held in February 2025.

Kejriwal said that people above the age of 60 will be treated for free as a part of the scheme. The former Delhi Chief Minister said that it was the duty of the government to take care of senior citizens.

"It is now our duty to take care of you. You people have worked hard to take the country forward," the former Delhi chief minister said.

The former Delhi CM also said there will be no upper ceiling on the cost of treatment and that registration for the scheme will begin in a day or two. He added that the scheme will be implemented once the party comes to power after the elections.

"There will be no upper limit on the cost of treatment. Registration for this will start in a day or two. AAP workers will come to your home for registration. They will give you a card, keep it safe. Once we come into power after the elections, this policy will be implemented," Kejriwal said.

The AAP has released its list of candidates for the 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly. The former Delhi Chief Minister will contest the polls from his New Delhi seat while the current Chief Minister Atishi will contest from the Kalkaji constituency. 

The Aam Aadmi Party is seeking a third consecutive term in Delhi. The party achieved a landslide victory in the Assembly Elections held in Delhi by winning 62 out of 70 seats. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has also announced that it plans to hold a preparatory meeting this week ahead of the Delhi elections.
