According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by ANI, if a worker is not getting the revised minimum wages, a complaint can be made to the Joint Labour Commissioner or the deputy Labour Commissioner in their districts. These are the official designated and authorised under the Minimum Wage Act, 1948, to review the complaints about wage discrepancies and resolve them.
The raise is to protect the workers against inflation and support those working at bottom-rung jobs.
The last revision in the minimum wages was done in October 2024. At that time, per day wage was increased to Rs 695 for unskilled workers, Rs 767 for semi-skilled, and Rs 843 for skilled workers.
