During our research, we discovered that Kathmandu is home to, not just one but three Durbar Squares. The term "Durbar Square" is commonly used to refer to areas located in front of old royal palaces in Nepal. In addition to Kathmandu Durbar Square, there are two other Durbar Squares—one in Bhaktapur and another in Patan. All three Durbar Squares—Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan—are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and represent the rich cultural and historical heritage of Nepal.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in Kathmandu, is a historic area known for its landmarks like the Taleju Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, and Kumari Ghar. It features intricate wood carvings, vibrant festivals, pagoda-style temples, and unique Newar architecture. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, in Bhaktapur, was the Malla dynasty's residence, featuring the Nyatapola Temple, 55-Window Palace, and Golden Gate. Patan Durbar Square, in Lalitpur, is a Newar craftsmanship masterpiece, ideal for elderly visitors who often devote their lives to spiritual and mythological significance. It houses the Patan Museum and the Krishna Mandir, renowned for its stone carvings. The squares are rich in history and serve as symbols of remarkable architecture and spirituality.
