The consolidated account statement (CAS) is a single document with details of transactions and investments across mutual funds and depository accounts that an investor might have. The CAS came into existence in March 2015, when the SEBI instructed depositories to take the onus to consolidate all the investment information of an investor based on their PAN. The CAS is sent once a month to every investor by e-mail if one has a registered e-mail address. If not, it is delivered to the postal address of the investor.

The benefit of CAS is the details it carries of all financial transactions in the month such as purchase, sale or switch in mutual fund investments by the investor. It also includes the full list of holdings (even if no transaction was conducted during the period) and its current value. From next month (October 2016), the CAS will also mention the commission (if any) paid to an adviser or distributor of mutual fund as per a SEBI mandate earlier this year.
