NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has introduced MyUPI, an AI-powered assistant on the BHIM Payments App.

The tool lets users handle common Unified Payments Interface (UPI) tasks through a chat-based system. Users can check transactions, raise complaints, manage recurring payments and get information about common fraud methods through the assistant.

MyUPI is available 24 hours a day and currently supports English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali. NPCI plans to add more regional languages in the future, according to its official press release.

Check Payments And Raise Complaints

MyUPI lets users view UPI transactions linked to their bank accounts and UPI apps in one place. Users can also ask for help with a particular payment through the assistant.

For eligible payment-related issues, users can raise a complaint through the BHIM app. After a complaint is registered, the user gets a reference number that can be used to check its status.

The Pay Safe feature lets users check who they are paying before completing a transaction. Users can enter a UPI ID or upload a QR code to view the name of the person or business receiving the money.

Manage Recurring Payments

Under MyUPI, details of recurring UPI payments are brought under one view, including mandates created through other UPI apps. Depending on the mandate, users can pause, restart or cancel a recurring payment.

The tool can also help users identify a mandate when money has been deducted without a UPI PIN prompt. Users can check which recurring payment is linked to the debit.

Another feature, Transaction Replay, lets users make an eligible earlier UPI payment again from their transaction history. It covers both person-to-person and person-to-merchant payments. Eligible payments originally made through another UPI app can also be re-initiated through BHIM, with fresh approval using the UPI PIN.

Block Accounts And Check Fraud Alerts

Users who do not want to receive payments through their mobile number can de-link their UPI Number. They can still receive money through their UPI ID, where applicable.

MyUPI also has a Safety Switch for situations such as a lost phone, an unexpected debit, a suspicious message or a suspected account breach. Users can block a linked bank account through the app to stop further transactions from that account.

The assistant also provides information about suspicious messages and types of common UPI fraud. All payment actions that need authentication will still require the user's UPI PIN.
