But recently, a dark side of such AI-powered image generation has concerned the insurance industry. People on the internet have found a sinister use of ChatGPT’s image-generation model by faking insurance claims.

The AI-Image Trend

Far from using artificial intelligence for writing academic papers to make it do content-generation work, the AI-models are now used heavily for AI-images. This is not limited to netizens poking fun with memes, but the tools are used by many official websites to generate images for professional use.

A viral trend in this game was the recent use of Ghibli Studios’ trademark anime style - incorporated into ChatGPT model to create ‘Ghiblified’ AI version of real-time photos.

However, such an AI-image generation trend has gone far from people generating cute images, and towards many using it for fraudulent gains.

In a viral Instagram post, chatgptricks, a page that posts AI-hacks, revealed that some users are misusing ChatGPT’s image creation tool to generate fake receipts and doctored images of car accidents for insurance claims.

The post shows that artificially generated images have made it easy for many people to manipulate truth into fraudulent claims.

While on one hand the AI-image trend is being celebrated for its creative liberty, on the flip side it has also blown a wave of AI-misuse.

Many worry that this feature as much as this tool is becoming conveniently accessible, it could also lead to a surge in such fraudulent activities. This could pose a complex challenge for insurers and other financial institutions.

In the current scenario, the Ghiblified images are an old-trend and the trouble has started brewing with ChatGPT's image-generation tool as the new digital revolution.
