PNB Locker Charges 2025: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced a change in its stop payment charges for cheque transactions. The fee for stopping payment on a single cheque will continue to remain unchanged at Rs 100. However, there is a change for bulk stop payment requests. At present, stopping payment for three or more cheques in a series costs Rs 300.
However, from October 1, 2025, the revised charge will be Rs 500, but it will apply only if the stop payment request covers five or more cheques. This means that customers issuing stop payment orders for a smaller number of cheques will not be affected by the increase.
Panjab National Bank has revised locker rental charges across most categories and locations. The new rates will apply from the next annual billing date after October 1, 2025.
In rural branches, small lockers will continue to cost Rs 1,000 per year. In semi-urban branches, the rent for small lockers will go up from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500. Medium lockers will now cost Rs 2,500 in rural areas, Rs 3,000 in semi-urban areas, and Rs 4,000 in urban and metro locations.
Large lockers will be priced at Rs 4,000 in rural areas, Rs 5,000 in semi-urban areas, Rs 6,500 in urban areas, and Rs 7,000 in metro areas. Very large lockers will cost Rs 6,000 in rural branches, Rs 7,000 in semi-urban branches, Rs 8,500 in urban branches, and Rs 9,000 in metro branches.
Extra-large lockers will continue to cost Rs 10,000 in rural branches. In semi-urban areas, the rates for extra-large lockers will increase to Rs 10,500, in urban branches to Rs 11,000, and in metro branches to Rs 12,000.
The locker registration fee stays the same for rural and semi-urban branches at Rs 200 for all locker sizes. In urban and metro branches, the fee for small and medium lockers will continue to be Rs 500. For large, very large, and extra large lockers in these areas, the registration fee will increase from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. This change will affect customers taking larger lockers in high-demand locations.
PNB currently charges Rs 100 for every failed standing instruction caused by insufficient funds, along with remittance and postage charges. From October 1, 2025, this will be substituted with a flat Rs 100 per month, inclusive of GST, irrespective of how many failed instructions occur. This revised structure will simplify the process for customers and the bank, as the fee will now be fixed for a month instead of being applied on a per-failure basis.
There will be no change to the bank’s nomination charges. Setting up a nominee for the first time will remain free. Any change to the nomination after that will cost Rs 100. If a modification is needed because the nominee has passed away, the bank will not ask for any processing fee, provided the customer provides a valid death certificate.
