Bitcoin prices fell below $76,000 after the CLARITY Act failed to pass the first round of voting in the US Senate, adding to the uncertainty around the outlook for crypto regulation in the US. The decline in Bitcoin prices comes as investors assess the broader crypto market and are looking ahead to the US Federal Reserve’s upcoming interest rate decision this week.

How Are Cryptocurrencies Performing?

Bitcoin was trading at $75,804.12 at the time of writing, down by 2.13 per cent in the past 24 hours and 4.03 per cent over the week.

Other major cryptocurrencies were also trading lower. Ethereum was down by 3.48 per cent in the past 24 hours and fell 3.77 per cent over the week. BNB declined 0.77 per cent in 24 hours and was down 5.08 per cent over the week. Does The CLARITY Act Setback Affect Crypto Prices?

The CLARITY Act vote has added another layer of uncertainty to the crypto market, although its exact impact on prices is difficult to separate from the broader macroeconomic pressures.

Prateek Gupta, head of business, Mudrex, says, “It is difficult to assign a precise percentage to the CLARITY Act, because the regulatory setback and macro pressure arrived almost simultaneously.”

Gupta said the impact was more visible in crypto-linked stocks. He said that Coinbase and Circle fell around 10 per cent, while Bitcoin declined by roughly 4 per cent, suggesting the vote had a particularly strong impact on companies that had priced in regulatory clarity.

What Other Factors Are Affecting Crypto Prices?

Beyond the setback in the CLARITY Act, crypto prices are also being affected by macroeconomic concerns and profit-taking after the recent market gains.

Harish G. Vatnani, head of trade, ZebPay, says: “The recent decline in Bitcoin and other major crypto assets is being driven by a combination of regulatory uncertainty, macroeconomic concerns, and profit-taking following the market’s recent gains.”

He added that interest-rate expectations, bond yields, and broader liquidity conditions continue to influence crypto markets. Bitcoin’s move towards the $80,000 level also gave some market participants an opportunity to lock in profits after the recent rally.

What Lies Ahead For Bitcoin And Crypto?

The near-term outlook for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will depend on how prices respond to key technical levels and broader market conditions. “For Bitcoin, key levels to watch now are the support near $75,000-76,000 and resistance at $79,500-80,400,” Gupta says.

Looking ahead, Vatnani adds that investor attention is likely to centre on liquidity conditions, interest-rate expectations as well as institutional demand, including flows through spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
