Buying gold jewellery is a financial move, but one must check the purity of the gold based on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The HUID system gives specific gold codes to every hallmarked piece of gold. This code is next to the BIS logo and fineness mark, thereby, certifying purity of gold.
The BIS CARE app helps consumers in checking the validation of the gold. One must download and register the number on the app.
After downloading, one must look for the six-digit HUID stamped on the gold. After this, one can move forward by verifying the HUID code.
The app presents the data after verification as follows: the Jeweller’s registration number, assaying and hallmarking centre (AHC) details, article type and purity, and the date of Hallmark.
There are some additional features available in the app that include, complaint registration, product authentication, access to information and instant updates.
Buying hallmarked jewellery is important as it ensures purity and guarantees that one is getting a genuine product.
The genuineness of the product is indicated by the BIS logo, grade of purity and HUID number.
