Share Market Today: Sensex Closes 90 Points Higher, Nifty Ends Above 25,540, MidCap Stocks Extend Rally

Share Market Today: Headline indices finished the session in the green on July 1. The Sensex closed higher by 90.83 points or 0.11 per cent at 83,697.29. The Nifty 50 also finished in the green with marginal gains up by 24.75 points or 0.1 per cent at 25,541.8. On July 1, investor sentiments remained guarded in anticipation of the July 9 tariff deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump. The India VIX index also closed 2.01 per cent indicating easing volatility.

Apollo Hospitals and Bharat Electronics Emerge As Top Gainers

Apollo Hospitals, Bharat Electronics Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd emerged as top-gainers among Nifty 50 stocks. Apollo Hospitals shares led the gainers as they closed higher by 3.63 per cent. Bharat Electronics and Reliance Industries also closed the session higher by 2.7 per cent. On the other hand shares of Nestle India, Axis Bank and Shriram Finance finished the session lower by as much as 2.22 per cent. As many as 26 constituents of the Nifty 50 declined and 24 stocks advanced.

Nifty MidCap 100 Extends Rally For Nine Sessions

The Nifty MidCap 100 closed the session with marginal gains up by 0.01 per cent. As of July 1 the index has extended a rally for nine straight sessions. On the other hand the Nifty SmallCap 100 finished the session lower by 0.1 per cent ending a long streak of gains. Among the sectoral pack the Nifty Metal and Nifty Oil and Gas index finished the session higher by 0.49 per cent and 0.31 per cent respectively. On the other hand Nifty IT and Nifty Realty indices emerged as losers closing lower by 0.30 per cent and 0.24 per cent respectively.

Global Markets on July 1

On June 30, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the session at 44,094.77 up by 275.5 points or 0.63 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 finished the session higher by 0.47 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Asian markets closed mixed on July 1 with the Shanghai Composite, KOSPI ending the session higher by 0.39 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively. Conversely the Nikkei 225 index finished the session lower by 1.25 per cent.

Primary Market Action On July 1

On July 1 shares of as many as four SME companies debuted on the exchanges these included AJC Jewel Manufacturers Ltd , Shri Hare-Krishna Sponge Iron Ltd , Icon Facilitators Ltd and Abram Food Ltd. On the other hand shares of three mainboard companies also made their debut on the NSE and BSE these included Kalpataru Ltd , Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases Ltd and Globe Civil Projects Ltd

Market Cues On June 30

The July 9 deadline for the imposition of trade tariffs is fast approaching and D-street investors are closely monitoring any further announcements related to the same.
