8th Pay Commission: Memorandum Submission Date Extended To June 15

The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has again extended the deadline for memorandum submission. The last date has been extended from May 31, 2026, to June 15, 2026. Stakeholders now have 15 more days to submit their response to the 8th CPC. This is the second time the deadline has been reset. Earlier it was set as April 30, which was then extended to May 31, and now it has been again extended to June 15. 

Notably, the Pay Commission is set roughly every 10 years to review the salaries, dearness allowance, other emoluments, payout structure, and incentives of government employees. As such, the recommendations of the CPC hold immense significance for millions of employees.

In a notification dated May 29, 2026, the 8th CPC said: “The last date for submission of Memorandum to the Eighth Central Pay commission stands extended to 15.06.2026. This is the final timeline for submission. No further extension shall be granted.”

This is the second extension, and also the final one, according to the notification. So, if any stakeholder, including employee associations or unions, pensioners and pensioners’ associations, employees of ministries and department, members of regulatory bodies, industrial and non-industrial central government employees, personnel in the defence forces, members of the all India services, officers of the Supreme Court, high courts in Union Territories, judicial officers of the subordinate courts in the Union Territories, service associations/unions, and central government ministries/departments/ organisations/Union Territories, is yet to submit the response, they still have time to do so.

It is to be noted that the Commission will consider only those responses and suggestions that are sent online on the Commission’s official portal. “The memorandum should only be submitted on the Commission's website (8cpc.gov.in). Please note that hard copies/physical copies/ emails/PDFs of the memorandum may not be considered by the Commission,” the notification said.

The 8th CPC is also holding discussions in various states and Union Territories with employee unions, pensioners’ associations, and other stakeholders. Many employees and pensioner bodies, such as the National Council Joint Consultative Machinery (NCJCM) (Staff Side), have already submitted their response and raised concerns of the staff (working and retired) to the Commission.

Its next meeting is scheduled from July 6-7, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
