Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced several changes related to updating of details on Aadhaar, effective from November 1, 2025. These changes would simplify and make the updating process more convenient for people, reducing the need for visits to Aadhaar Seva Kendras and avoiding the crowds. People can now update their demographic details from the myAadhar portal itself.
Earlier, as the changes and updates were rolling out, there was a lot of confusion regarding which details could be changed and how they could be done.
The Aadhaar card is one of the most vital documents one possesses. So, it is important to ensure that the details mentioned on it are correct and updated. Here is the list of changes that you can update yourself at your home.
Name: Name changes can be made as long as they are minor typographic corrections.
Date of Birth: You can only change the date of birth details once.
Gender: Just like Date of birth, this change can only be made once.
Address: You can change your address by uploading related documents. An alternative to this is to sync details to the Head of the family. You can use your partner’s or caregiver’s details as supporting documents to update your details.
You can make these changes on the myAadhar online portal. Changes that require a complete physical visit, such as biometric scans, updating phone numbers, or complete name changes, require you to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
For Identity proof, you can present your passport, Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, Voter ID, and driving license. For proof of address, your electricity bill, ration card, rent agreement, or registration papers will work. For updating your date of birth details in case of typographic mistakes, you can present your Class X marksheet, birth certificate, or your passport.
