In a statement on April 8, 2026, the Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij said that the decision to hike wages for workers will be effective retrospectively from April 1, 2026. The hike proposal was approved by the Haryana cabinet after an expert committee recommended the increase in wages at the time of the state budget. The recommendations are approved now, and to become effective retrospectively, as per the PTI report.
The equal increment has been announced for all categories of workers, including unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled.
For unskilled workers, the wages have been increased from Rs 11,274.60 to Rs 15,220 per month. This Rs 3,945.40 hike reflects an increase of around 35 per cent.

For semi-skilled workers, it has been hiked from Rs 12,430.18 to Rs 16,780.74 per month, marking an increase of Rs 4,350.56 (35 per cent).
For skilled workers, it has increased by Rs 4,796.50 from Rs 13,704.31 to Rs 18,500.81 per month. This again is a 35 per cent hike.
Highly skilled workers’ wages have been hiked by Rs 5,036.33 per month, increasing their monthly wages from Rs 14,389.52 to Rs 19,425.85, reflecting a 35 per cent rise.
According to Saini, the welfare and social security measures are the state’s top priority, and the increase in minimum wages is a step in this direction. This is to improve the financial condition of the beneficiaries and their overall well-being.
Vij said that the workers are the backbone of the economy and their welfare and empowerment are crucial for the overall economic development, and added that more steps will be taken for the workers in the future to improve their social security, working conditions, and healthcare facilities.

The new wages will take effect from April 1, 2026. According to the government, this move is in alignment with the new labour codes.
