Budget 2025: MCX To Remain Open For Special Trading Session On February 1

On February 1, 2025, MCX will remain open, enabling market participants to respond to the Union Budget announcements

The Union Budget 2025 will be presented on Saturday, February 1, 2025, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This will mark her 8th consecutive budget presentation and the second full budget under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term (Modi 3.0).

The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. (MCX) has confirmed in a press release that it will conduct a special live trading session on Union Budget Day, February 1, 2025. The market usually operates until 3:30 p.m., but the exchange will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., enabling market participants to trade in real-time and make adjustments in response to announcements made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the presentation of the Union Budget 2025.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) already declared February 1, 2025, a special trading day for the commodities and stock markets, and announced that they will hold full trading sessions on that day. Circulars confirming live trading on Budget Day were released by both exchanges on Monday.

The MCX and other exchanges, including the NSE and BSE, have decided to remain open for full trading sessions on budget day, ensuring that market participants have access to trading platforms during the budget presentation. With this move, traders have the chance to instantly modify their positions.
