Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 21st instalment of the PM Kisan scheme today, November 19, 2025, in an event in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In this instalment, eligible farmers will receive the financial benefit of Rs 2,000 directly in their bank accounts.
According to government data, a total of Rs 18,000 crore will be disbursed to around 90 million farmers across the country. However, the names of approximately 7 million farmers have been eliminated from the beneficiary list due to ineligibility.
Modi will also inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 on the same occasion, and the monetary help will be transferred to all the eligible beneficiaries of the scheme via Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, or generally known as the PM Kisan scheme, was introduced on February 1, 2019, in the Interim-Union Budget 2019. This scheme became effective from December 2018. However, the scheme was launched on February 24, 2019, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Under this scheme, all eligible farmers will receive a yearly monetary help of Rs 6,000, disbursed in three instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months. According to a report by PIB, published on November 14, 2025, more than Rs 3.70 lakh crore have been transferred to over 110 million farmer families across India through 20 instalments as of now.
The PM Kisan official website provides the beneficiary list, which includes the names of farmers who are eligible for the monetary support. Only farmers who have successfully completed their Aadhar verification, have linked their bank account, and have undergone the e-KYC process will find their names in the list.
Here's how you can check whether the list contains your name or not:
1. Visit the PM Kisan's official website (pmkisan.gov.in)
2. Locate the "Farmers Corner" on the homepage
3. Click on "Beneficiary List" in the menu
4. When asked, select state, district, block and village
5. The result page will contain a list of all beneficiaries
Due to a stringent check undertaken by the government to ensure that only the eligible farmers receive the benefits, the total number of beneficiaries has decreased by approximately 7 million for this instalment.
On top of that, accounts and registration processes of thousands of farmers have been halted under the ministry's suspicion that many farmers do not meet the eligibility criteria. The Ministry of Agriculture is conducting a "saturation drive" throughout the country to ensure that the benefits reach only the eligible farmers.
PM Kisan's official portal issued a notice stating that the Agricultural Department has "identified certain suspected cases that may fall under the exclusion criteria outlined in the PM-KISAN scheme guidelines". The portal has also urged all the farmers to check their eligibility criteria on the official website.
The exclusion criteria under the PM Kisan scheme include:
All institutional landholders,
Farmer families in which one or more of their members hold constitutional positions, are former or present ministers or members of Parliament, or are serving or retired officers or employees of government or public sector undertakings,
All superannuated or retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs 10,000 or more,
All persons who paid income tax in the last assessment year,
Professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects who are registered with professional bodies and carry out their profession by undertaking practices.
