Postal Employees' Productivity-Linked Bonus: Council Seeks Disbursal Before Durga Puja

The Joint Council of Postal Employees (JCPE) has officially requested the Department of Posts (DoP) to disburse the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for the financial year 2025-26 to all eligible postal workers before Durga Puja. In a letter addressed to the Secretary, Department of Posts, the employees’ council requested that the department finalise the necessary administrative steps to ensure disbursal of bonus on or before October 17, 2026.

With the subject line "Request for payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for the year 2025-26 before Durga Puja – regarding," the request letter highlighted the approaching festive season and postal employees’ expectations regarding the timely release of their annual bonus.

The festive season has already started, and some of the key festival dates are falling in October and November. Durga Puja celebrations are to begin on October 17, 2026, whereas Dussehra will be celebrated shortly after on October 21, 2026, and Diwali on November 8. This is the time when markets are loaded with discounts, different offers, and people tend to spend on festive rituals, following customs, travelling to their hometowns, renovating and decorating houses, and buying gold, silver, and so on.

Highlighting this, JCPE stressed that Durga Puja and Dussehra are among the most significant cultural and religious festivals celebrated across several parts of the country. The council also noted that people need more liquid money during this period to manage their additional expenditure.

The council stressed that DoP’s staff members are earnestly expecting to receive their bonus for FY 2025-26 before the celebrations begin, so that they can meet their financial commitments and celebrate the festivities in a meaningful manner with their family members and near and dear ones.  

Call For Priority Administrative Action

The council pointed out that an early disbursal of bonuses would show the department’s genuine concern for workers' welfare during the festival season.

Considering the short window before the festival begins, the Joint Council has urged the Secretary’s office to accord priority to the demands and provide approval. The request seeks an early and favourable action by the Department so that the bonus reaches all eligible postal employees before October 17, 2026.
