As per a report by News 18, India has received about USD 2.34 million, around Rs 21.5 crore, as the prize money from the International Cricket Council (ICC). New Zealand, who were the runners-up, were awarded a total of USD 1.17 million, which is almost Rs 10.75 crore. The prize structure makes sure that the winning and the well-performing teams are rewarded.

ICC distributed the total prize money among teams based on their positions. The breakdown includes the rewards for the winners, runners-up, semi-finalists, and other teams, depending on how far they played in the tournament.

Key prize categories included:

  • Winners: USD 2.34 million, almost about Rs 21.5 crore

  • Runners-up: USD 1.17 million, almost about Rs 10.75 crore

  • Losing semi-finalists: USD 675,000 each, almost around Rs 6.2 crore

  • Teams finishing 5th–8th: USD 270,000 each, which is about Rs 2.48 crore

  • Teams finishing 9th–12th: USD 135,000 each, which is about Rs 1.24 crore

  • Teams finishing 13th–20th: USD 112,000 each, which is around Rs 1.03 crore

This distribution ensures that even if the teams are eliminated just before the finals, they receive financial compensation for participating in this global event.

Apart from the above prizes, the teams also receive bonuses based on their performance during many stages of the tournament. For every match a team wins, they are awarded around USD 31,154, which is almost around Rs 28.6 lakh. These incentives motivate the teams to perform in a consistent manner throughout the tournament.
