Budget 2025: PM Modi’s Big Message For Middle-Class Ahead Of Tabling Of Economic Survey

Ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session 2025 and hours before the tabling of the Economic Survey, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the media and invoked Maa Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. He added that the goddess is invoked before all such auspicious occasions.

PM Modi also said that he prays to Maa Lakshmi to bless the poor and the middle-class people of India. "At the beginning of Budget Session today, I bow before Goddess of prosperity - Maa Laxmi. I pray Maa Laxmi to bless the poor and middle-class people of the country," PM Modi said.

Notably key expectations from the middle class include changes to income tax slabs and other key measures to boost consumption. Additionally, key expectations also include measures to boost India’s GDP growth and other provisions to counter rising inflation and a depreciating rupee.

The Prime Minister also said that India has completed 75 years as a republic and expressed gratitude for being given the responsibility for the third time to become Prime Minister. He added that this is the first full Budget which will be presented in the BJP government’s third term.

“The people of the country have given me this responsibility for the third time, and this is the first full Budget of my third term,” Modi said.

Modi also added that the Budget for 2025 will instill the confidence and energy within Indians to make India a developed nation when the 100th year of independence is celebrated in 2047. He said that the 140-crore-strong population of India would fulfill his resolution through their collective efforts.

“I can say with full faith that in 2047, when India will be celebrating 100 years of Independence... this Budget will provide new trust, new energy that the country will definitely become 'Viksit' when it will celebrate 100 years of Independence. 140 crore Indians will fulfill this resolution through their collective efforts," PM Modi said.

It is to be noted that the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic survey in the Parliament today January 31 at 12 noon. The Economic Survey presents an in-depth report of the country's performance over the past year and a forecast for the coming year. Several key economic indicators are taken into account for the preparation of the economic survey such as GDP, growth, inflation, employment and other trends.

The Economic Survey for 2025 has been prepared by a team of economists led by Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran. Post the tabling of the Economic Survey the Union Budget for 2025 will be presented by the Finance Minister on February 1, 2025.
