Axis Bank Reduces FD Rate, Senior Citizens Can Still Get Up To 7.20 Per Cent

This year, fixed deposit rates have come down drastically from the 7 to 9 per cent range to around 6 to 7.5 per cent. The effect of four repo rate cuts (0.25 per cent in February, 0.25 per cent in April, 0.50 per cent in June, and 0.25 per cent in December), making the total of 1.25 per cent, in 2025, has reduced the lending rates for home, personal and other loans, as well as the deposit rates. In line with the rate cut, Axis Bank also reduced the rates.

Effective December 26, 2025, senior citizens can avail these rates.

The bank has reduced the rates by 0.15 per cent for all tenures between 15 months and 10 years. Following the revision, the bank offers senior citizens (60 years and above) the highest 7.20 per cent. Here is the detail of the rates for all tenures:

• 3.50 per cent for seven days to 14 days

• 3.50 per cent for 15 days to 29 days

• 3.75 per cent for 30 days to 45 days

• 4.50 per cent for 46 days to 60 days

• 4.50 per cent for 61 days to 87 days

• 5.00 per cent for 88 days to three months 24 days

• 5.00 per cent for three months 25 days to less than four months

• 5.00 per cent for four months to less than six months

• 6.00 per cent for six months to less than nine months

• 6.25 per cent for nine months to less than one year

• 6.75 per cent for tenures from one year to one year 10 days

• 6.75 per cent for one year and 11 days to less than 13 months

• 6.75 per cent for 13 months to less than 15 months

• 6.95 per cent for 15 months to less than 18 months

• 6.95 per cent for tenures from 18 months to less than two years

• 6.95 per cent for tenures from two years to less than three years

• 6.95 per cent for tenures from three years to less than five years

• 7.20 per cent for five years to 10 years.

Note that, post rate revision, the highest rate for the general public (less than 60 years) is 6.45 per cent. These new rates are available only for FDs less than Rs 3 crore, which can be prematurely withdrawn.
